Konami Software (Assorted)

Quarth (Famicom)

Familiar to those who spent time with Legend of the Mystical Ninja, this space shooter oriented take on Qix didn't get an NES American release, though the Game Boy version did make it over here.

The worlds first "shooting puzzle."

It's all about shooting an army of blocks into squares. Once they've been made square, they can no longer continue on!

* The game seems simple, yet it's deep below the surface.
* Hugely popular in arcades as well.
* The game quickly heats up from 'child' to 'adult' level.

* One or two people can play.
* With two players, there are three modes of play.

Quarth (MSX2)

Another early Konami title ported to the MSX, the graphics are more solid than the Famicom. Maybe due to the simpler nature of the gameplay, the scrolling looks smoother than other Konami and Square titles.

The unparalleled shooting puzzle game.

Once they've been made square, they can no longer go on.

The fundamentals are simple. As block pieces fall from above, you shoot them into squares, causing them to vanish in an instant. The question is: How can you more efficiently create these square shapes? It's not complicated, but it's deep. It's simple, but you won't be able to stop.

1P Mode
It's tough in one player mode!
Two players means two times the fun and a total of three ways to play.

2P Mode
Cooperative type
Even in cooperative mode, it's possible to sabotage one another.

Battle type
An endless game that goes on until the victor is decided.

4 types of ships to play as.
Game level and speed can be decided in the options.

Konami Wai Wai World
Many famous (and obscure) Konami faces grace the cover of Wai Wai World. The game's premise of combining multiple IPs was wildly ambitious, but flawed in execution. I'd still recommended old school Konami fans at least check it out. See my review for more.

The heroes have returned!

A problem has arisen, and our heroes are quick to the rescue. Assemble the heroes and board the 'Vic Viper' and 'Twinbee' to take down the Evil King Waruda!

Wai Wai World 2: Parsley Castle
One of the greatest Famicom games not to make it to the West. Taking heavy inspiration form Super Mario Bros 3, there's a ton of variety to found along with excellent graphics and music. The game is quite short and easy, but a blast while it lasts. See my review for more.

It's like a Konami toy chest.

Everybody's 'Wai Wai World' has returned! Seven Konami mega heroes go on a huge adventure, including the first appearance of the new robot soldier, Rickle!! Enjoy various genres within the greatest of "variety action" game!

* A new entry to the mega popular Wai Wai series.
* A gathering of Konami heroes throughout the generations.
* Diverse game genres are introduced, one after another.
* A huge map made up of 9 worlds and 21 stages.

Zone of the Enders
Like Tobal Number 1 and FFVII, or Brave Fencer Musashi and FFVIII, more people probably bought this for the included demo than the game itself. Zone of the Enders was still fondly remembered, being reissued on later consoles.
