Battle Arena Toshinden

Battle Arena Toshinden (PlayStation)

Full of awkward marketing terminology which coincided with the beginning of the 3D era. With the screenshots doing plenty of of talking in 1995, the box art is rather bland compared to the revisions and sequels.

Toshinden Remix / Toshinden S

Releasing less than a year after the PS1 original, Remix adds new characters and content, as well as leans more into the anime artstyle which would go on to age far better. This game came with a Saturn I acquired in 1997. A few years into the 3D generation, by then it wasn't nearly as dazzling as first experiencing it at home in early 1995.
