Sega Game Gear Assorted Software

Dragon Crystal: Maze of Tsurani
Looking like Legend of Zelda with sunflowers and cacti, Dragon Crystal was a fairly well received roguelike by Sega.

The unknown adventure...begins now.

The young magic user, Osshi, has been imprisoned in a crystal ball containing a multi level maze. There, monsters run rampant in a world of magic!

Daysenryaku G / Great Strategy G

Systemsoft's Daisenryaku series was on all sorts of Sega platforms, including a Game Gear port that's more colorful than the realistically shaded Mega Drive version. While I've never played any of them, it predated Nintendo's very similar to Nintendo's 'Wars' by several years.

You are the commanding officer. Utilizing modern weaponry, attack the enemy!

Moving around units that include fighter aircraft, tanks, mechanized infantry and more, battle the enemies while aiming to take their capital! Going up against a formidable enemy in the computer controlled commander...will you take on the battle? And of course, your friends can be fellow soldiers as well, in this exciting battle style game!

Magic Knight Rayearth 2: Making of Magic Knight

A colorful strategy RPG developed by Sega. Although an MKR game appeared on the Super Famicom, Sega appeared to have held the incensing rights for the most part, including producing toys in Japan.

We fight in order to protect Cephiro!

Hikaru, Umi and Fuu have once again been summoned as sorceresses, and you're tasked with training and guiding their growth as Magic Knights!

Pac-Man

A fairly straight forward port of Pac-Man, similar to what the Neo Geo Pocket Color got years later. Pacmania has quieted down as we head deeper into the 2000s, but in my elder-millennial childhood, I remember him being generally as iconic in pop-culture as Donkey Kong and Mario.

Once you start eating, you won't be able to stop!

It's your Namco representative, Pac-Man! Here eating Power Pellets and counter-attacking monsters! There are two types of viewing displays for the field, either scrolling, or the whole screen in it's entirety.

There's also excitement in the battle mode! Eat monsters to send them to your opponent's field!...but play carelessly, and you'll be surrounded by up to 8 monsters yourself!!

Puyo Puyo

This colorful puzzler, perfect for the Game Gear display was localized in America as Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine, just like on the Mega Drive/Genesis.

Fire!!

The puzzle game that's burning with cuteness...can be played on your Game Gear!

Fun! Invigorating! You can't stop!  Make a big chain in Puyo Puyo!

Psychic World
Like many other anime influenced games in the early 90s, it's cool aesthetic was wiped out in the Western release. Speaking of anime, that scientist looks awfully like Gendo Ikari...

Using your psychic power, go on a fighting journey!

The research laboratory has exploded! Monsters have taken Lucia's twin sister,  Cecile. Of course, she heads out to help. Lucia attaches equipment amplifying her ESP abilities and sets out from the research lab...

Streets of Rage / Bare Knuckle

Adam is somehow missing from the otherwise solid Game Gear port of Streets of Rage.

The feeling of speed, sense of exhilaration, diverse techniques and, of course, it's the decisive street fighting action series! Bring hope to the streets of darkness, with nothing but your fists! Bust up the mysterious syndicate!

Streets of Rage II / Bare Knuckle II

Of the handful of Game Gear titles I owned, I played this by far the most. A wonderful port of one of the most well done beat-em-ups of the 90s, but of course it's even better on the Genesis.

Once again, the evil has been resurrected...
Mr. X burns with the flames of revenge.
Axel and his companions begin a fight that edges even closer to death's door!
