About this blog:
Welcome! Updated daily, the main purpose of this blog is to possibly translate every retro (80s-00s) Japanese video game package within my lifetime, along with posting other content I hope you'll enjoy. I'm also highly active on https://www.youtube.com/@83chrisaaron where over 3100 Japanese commercials have been closed captioned in English. Additionally, original videos (Game, book, manga reviews, and more) can be found at https://www.youtube.com/@83chrisaaronextra
About me:
I instantly became obsessed with video games upon experiencing Super Mario Bros in the 80s. When not in front of a console or arcade cabinet, I would eagerly (re)read gaming magazines in the house, at the super market, or best of all: within mall book stores, where the arcade and a multitude of video game retailers were all within walking distance.
First connecting to the internet with a 28.8k modem in the mid-90s, everyday there was something new to discover in the bustling, innovative world of 32-bit gaming. I quickly became fascinated, envious even, of all the games and other media exclusive to Japan. While waiting what felt like an eternity for Final Fantasy VII to be localized, a desire to learn Japanese was ignited. Though prime learning years, I was easily dissuaded by such a formidable (but accomplishable) task. After several failed starts, in 2007 I finally committed to an organized, diligent study of the language, eager to start sharing translations as my skill developed. Elevating my Japanese proficiency to a native level remains a daily discipline and seemingly never ending, but rewarding process. If you have feedback on my translations, or any general inquiries, my e-mail address is chris@chrislovesjapan.com
How you can help:
I'm thrilled to have the capacity and opportunity to translate so much interesting media from Japan and see people get a kick out of it. The only thing better is if you would like to support my efforts with a gift donation, which I'll happily accept at my Amazon Wishlist. Your contribution would both provide a thrill and free up time from my day job, allowing me to produce even more. If money is tight, no problem. You may certainly help me out by spreading the word to your friends and sharing your favorite content on social media. Enjoy!
