The Combatribes Japanese Packaging / Box Art Translation

The Combatribes (12.23.92)

While not the most widely known of beat-em-ups, anyone who encountered Combatribes in the arcade were struck by the unusually colorful, cartoony graphics. Even if the SNES wasn't quite capable of matching the graphical fidelity of the arcade, the NES prot was enriched with additional cutscenes and a one on one mode similar to Technos' NES port of Double Dragon.

Simultaneous 2-player play, continues, and joining in are all OK!

Combatribes is a word we've coined, combining COMBAT and TRIBE. That is the name for 3 powerful men, appearing out of nowhere and possessing a strength resembling that of a wrathful deity. It's not even exactly clear who began calling them that. Having come from the Southern part of the United States, they were all originally part of the US Army. Aside from destroying biker gangs, street gangs and the local mafia across all sorts of regions before making their way to New York, their origins are totally wrapped in mystery.

In the VS mode, you can select and play as up to 16 enemy characters from the stages you've cleared, fighting within 3 fields. There are over 750 different combinations!
