Ganbare Goemon: Tōkai Dōchū Ōedo Tengu ri Kaeshi no Maki / The Volume of the Tokaido Journey & Tengu's Return to O-Edo Japanese Packaging / Box Art Translation

Ganbare Goemon: Tōkai Dōchū Ōedo Tengu ri Kaeshi no Maki / The Volume of the Tokaido Journey & Tengu's Return to O-Edo (6.23.05)

After his strange and unwanted reinventions on the PS1, GBA and PS2, Goemon and his loveable trio returning to their beloved 90s incarnations was hugely exciting for fans of the series. With almost zero knowledge of Japanese, I imported this title and slowly made my way through part of the game with just my kanji dictionary. Despite the gorgeous visuals and music, the game was largely built around the DS touch screen gimmicks and substantially lacked the straightforward, quality platforming expected from the series.
