1943: The Battle of Midway / The Battle of Valhalla (Famicom) Japanese Packaging / Box Art Translation

1943: The Battle of Midway / The Battle of Valhalla (Famicom) (6.20.88)

The sequel to Capcom's 1942 had a fascinating development history, as certain Japanese political groups objected to the game's sensitive subject matter, which was released just slightly over four decades after the conclusion of World War II. For the Japanese Famicom release, Midway was changed to Valhalla (From Norse mythology) and the game's final boss, the Yamato (A WWII Japanese battleship) was renamed Toutaku, among many other edits.

Full throttle fighting spirit!!

Now, in the Valhalla Sea, the large fleets from both armies have assembled. It was obvious to everyone that the outcome of this naval battle would have an enormous impact on how the war unfolds.

You board your military's newest weapon, the P-38 lightning,  going on to sink the entire enemy fleet!

Your final objective is the put a stop to the enemy country's pride and joy, the super-giant battle ship the "Toutaku"! We wish you luck!!
