Super Smash Bros. Melee / Great Fray Smash Brothers Deluxe (11.21.01)
Without Mario to help launch the GameCube, Smash Bros. Melee arguably filled in the void as the most impressive console fighter since the arcade ports Street Fighter II, Mortal Kombat, Tekken 3 and Soul Calibur. Arriving just a couple years after the N64 version, the graphical leap and amount of content was stunning. I was one of the millions who sunk dozens of hours into unlocking characters and collecting trophies.
