Kirby Games 1992-1995 Japanese Packaging / Box Art Translations

Kirby's Dreamland /  Kirby of the Stars (4.27.92)

Making his gaming debut in 1992, the first Kirby game excellently utilized the limited Game Boy hardware with its large sprites and visual clarity. Pink from the very start, the American version had him a ghostly, apparently due to a lack of documentation (besides screen shows) during the localization process.

"By opening his mouth up big, inhale, blow out and inhale again!!"

His belly is empty! One evening, all the food throughout the land was taken away by the evil King Dedede. At this rate, everyone may die of an empty stomach! However, one youngster has stood up against Dedede. His name is Kirby. Help the whole nation fill up their tummies! Do your best, Kirby!!

Kirby's Adventure /  Kirby of the Stars: Tale of the Fountain of Dreams (3.23.93)

Releasing very late into the NES' life cycle, the second Kirby game was a technical tour-de-force with it's excellent pastel graphics, parallax, faux 3D effects and copy ability which gave the game immense depth. Borrowing a copy from a friend in the mid-90s, it was easy to mistake the experience for a SNES game.

Pupupu Land's life source, the Fountain of Dreams, has been met with a serious incident! Inhale, exhale and fly through the air. The Kirby you know from before has learned the "copy" skill, which will play a huge role ahead. Well then, Kirby of the Stars, your second adventure now begins!

Over 20 (abilities) can be copied!

For example, with an enemy using a hammer:

Inhale him...

Swallow him up...

Look, now you got it!

Go ahead and try swallowing various (enemies)...

Kirby's Pinball (11.27.93)

Kirby's rotund form is perfect for a pinball spinoff. This is Nintendo's second pinball video game after the NES original which featured cameos from Super Mario Bros.

This time, Kirby is all about pinball!

Cheerful sounds, enjoyable action! The Kirby you've been awaiting has made his return to the Game Boy in authentic pinball action! Choose between 3 different lands! Wonderful bonus games, score competitions, and after you defeat each boss...aim to take down King Dedede! Your opponents are quite tough!

Kirby's Dream Course / Kirby Bowl (9.21.94)

The second, even more bizarre Kirby spin-off was quite fascinating. I always loved the look of the isometric 'islands' high above the vast world below. Of course, Kirby uses his Warp Star to get around between stages.

Kirby Bowl
Kirby makes his first appearance on the Super Famicom!

The wonderous world of Kirby unfolds on the Super Famicom. Using the original rules of golf and billiards as the basis of the game, the ball (Kirby) is shot according to your intricate 3D calculations, all while clearing away enemies. Familiar enemies appear on cheerful courses which are full of tricks! Also introduced...is the series' first two-player battle mode!

Kirby's Dream Land 2 / Kirby of the Stars 2 (3.21.95)

After an expansive sequel on the NES, Kirby returns to the Game Boy with even more gameplay possibilities. Kirby's animal friends are quite peculiar...a hamster, owl and even a sunfish.

3 Animal Friends, 100 times the bravery!

Always doing his best, even when alone, Kirby has been able to enlist the help of friends, the three animals Rick, Kine and Coo. With each one possessing special abilities, and by combining Kirby's familiar copy ability, this adventure is going to be EVEN MORE fun! Kirby and your 3 animal buddies...move ahead!

Kirby's Block Ball (12.14.95)

After trying his hand at pinball and billiards, Kirby gets more destructive by smashing some bricks.

The fun world of Kirby makes its "Block Ball" debut! Under the basic premise of destroying blocks, use the pad to hit Kirby, who's acting as the ball to bust the blocks! Go for the high score! Arming yourself with 4 abilities, clear the enemies blocking your way to advance to the fateful battle with King Dedede! With additional unique bonus games, the third game in (Kirby's) 'Ball Series' is a sure hit!
