Strider Series Japanese Packaging / Box Art Translations

Strider Hiryu (Mega Drive) (9.29.90)

The packaging is certainly better than the commercial! Here, Strider Hiryu is pictured with black hair.

In brilliant sci-fi, Hiryu cuts through the darkness! Tear apart the Grand Master's plans!

Strider Hiryu (Sharp X68000) (11.27.92)

Like Capcom's ports of SFII and Final Fight, the leap to the X68000 was as smooth as Hiryu himself.

The year is 2048. The entire world is under the control of a mysterious dark ruler,  the 'Grand Master'.

With a background as ninjas, the "Striders" are a clandestine group with abilities far exceeding that of ordinary people.

Wielding his weapon the 'Cypher,' the group's youngest A class Strider, "Hiryu," has been tasked with a mission: Put on an end to the plans of the [Dark Ruler, the Grandmaster], who has stretched his dictatorship to the limit.

Slice, leap, somersault, slide, run hills...

His abilities have far surpassed those of all humans.

Numerous dynamic, speedy 'super stunt actions'.

The A Class Strider, Hiryu, is here!

Strider / Strider Hiryu (PC Engine CD) (9.22.94)

Released 4-5 years after the initial console ports, the PC-Engine CD version makes up for the downgraded (but competent) graphics by including an impressive arranged soundtrack.

Spine Card:

The year is 2042. The world is cast under the shadow of the mysterious, self-proclaimed [Grand Master], whose attempting to subjugate the entire planet with his military might. In order to resist him, the top secret international organization, [Striders] was created. To protect world peace, they fight day and night. Among them, there was a man who was the youngest, as well as strongest. His name is Hiryu, aka, Strider Hiryu!

Strider Hiryu 1 & 2 (PlayStation) (2.24.00)

Yet another quality 2D game I missed out on during the immense hype during the start of the second generation of 3D gaming. Capcom themselves were even somewhat distracted, as the US release hilariously misprinted both discs.

He's intense, brave, and moves head on.
