Largely forgotten today, Eternal Champions was Sega's much anticipated entrance to the 2D fighting genre in the days when Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter II were white hot. Its time travelling gimmick was certainly pulled off with more grace than the gory and notoriously unpolished weapons fighter 'Time Killers'.
