Fatal Fury 2 / Garou Densetsu 2 Japanese Packaging / Box Art Translations

Fatal Fury 2 (Neo Geo) (3.5.93)

Back in the early 90s, Fatal Fury 2 felt like the most legitimate Street Fighter II clone, even though it was eclipsed by the Mortal Kombat series. I remember the arcade I frequented had two SFII cabinets to satiate demand, meanwhile the near by Neo Geo housing FF2 would often go unplayed.

In the strongest martial arts tournament, the 'King of the Fighters, the legendary men have once again returned...

CRASH! The Real 100 Megabit Fighters. Who is the tournament sponsor, and what is the true goal? Unique '2 line battles' and numerous gorgeous techniques undergoing a 'super evolution.' 8 fighters show up to the challenge in this 'New Fight'!

Choose from 8 fighters!
Identical characters can battle.

Kim Kaphwan - The Man of Taekwondo with heated blood running through his muscles.

Jubei Yamada - The Demon of Judo, intimidating enough to quiet a crying child.

Mai Shiranui - The Alluring Kunoichi

Andy Bogard - The Kappo Specialist

Terry Bogard - The Martial Arts Master

Joe Higashi - The Youthful Muay Thai Champ

Cheng Sinzan - A practitioner of Tai Chi with a robust economic spirit.

Big Bear - The Strongest Orthodox Wrestler

* An explosion of individuality! The player is able to choose from all 8 characters.
* Further variance in character skills, special actions and real sounds.
* A super evolution in fighting depth. The amount of variation to the fighting exceeds imagination.

* Simple, yet deep. Unrivaled controllability has been implemented. Don't overlook this detail production!

Fatal Fury 2 (Super Famicom) (11.26.93)

Despite this being considered quite a decent port by Takara, the packaging eschews any screenshots for what SNK is often best at, incredible artwork.

Front:
* Versus Style Fighting Action Game
* 2 Player Battles Enabled
* 12 characters in total / Identical character battles
* 2 line battle system, taunts and super moves are perfectly replicated.

A new fight.

Fatal Fury 2 (Sharp X68000) (12.23.93)

The X68000 versions has near identical artwork an packaging text as the Neo Geo version. Something very interesting, posted on the yellow circle on the back, is that this version allows you to play as the four bosses.

Fatal Fury 2 / Garou Densetsu 2 (PC Engine Arcade CD-ROM²) (3.12.94)

While not a perfect port from the Neo Geo, the PC-Engine version enjoyed better sprites than the SNES and Genesis and benefited from red book audio as a CD-ROM² title.

Using the arcade card and the high capacity  storage of the CD-ROM², (the PC Engine) is the STRONGEST MACHINE!

The SUPER FLASHY super desperation moves are perfectly recreated!

A realistic fight unfolds with the 2 line battle system!

8 huge, charming characters...in a huge conflict!

Fatal Fury 2 (Mega Drive) (6.24.94)

Some rather tinny sound plagues the Mega Drive port of Fatal Fury 2, but I dig the gritty and detailed box art that was chosen over the other versions.

You can't let your guard down for one moment.

The Legend of the Hungry Wolves 2 appears on the Mega Drive! The original 2 line system, taunts and super moves are all recreated. Fight to the ends of the earth in this new Garou (Hungry Wolf), on the Mega Drive!

A new fight unfolds right here!

Fatal Fury 2 / Garou Densetsu 2 (Neo Geo CD) (9.9.94)

Helping to make up for the long loading times, the NGCD version of FF2 featured a new into with charming manga style illustrations.

Once again, the legendary men have returned...

Refining the unique 2-line battle system, the Hungry Wolves have begun a "New Battle".

One year since the "Battle of Fate", someone new stands in the way of these legendary men, the "Emperor of Darkness," Wolfgang Krauser. With the world's strongest fighting tournament, [The King of Fighters] restarted, just what are Krauser's true intentions? 5 new fighters join the great heroic trio of Hungry Wolves for a total of 8 charming characters. Aiming to dominate as the world's strongest fighter, they all duke it out! Identical character and join-in versus play is enabled.

Fatal Fury 2 (Nintendo Game Boy) (12.29.94)

A highly specialized Game Boy port awaits under the colorful, super deformed style box art. In an ingenious idea, the fighters announce their special moves via text bubbles in substitution of digitized audio clips, which was too much for the GameBoy.

The familiar 8, the 'Three Warriors', and the 'Emperor of Darkness' are waiting to do battle with you!! Defensive attacks, taunts and desperation moves have been recreated on the Game Boy. You can also battle via linked play!
