Silent Hill (PlayStation) Japanese Packaging / Box Art Translation

Silent Hill (PlayStation) (3.4.99)

After the highly successful jump-scare horror of Capcom's Resident Evil series, Konami answered with a more dreadful, super-natural experience inspired by Jacob's Ladder. While not a fan of the survival horror genre, I loved reading about people's experiences with Silent Hill I and II in particular.

Spine Card:

A trembling, never-ending unease.

Front:

This game includes violent scenes and grotesque imagery. The shocking horror adventure, is here!

Back:

[Silent Hill]. In this town, you're in for a [shocking] experience like never before.

The desolate, lakeside resort of Silent Hill.

With the (vacation) season having already passed, the sight of people has become scant. Your main character, Harry, has headed off in his car towards the town for a vacation. Late in the night, his exhausted daughter Cheryl is asleep in the car. Unexpectedly, a police motorcycle appears, passing by Harry's vehicle. On the shoulder of the road, that same motorcycle is seen laid out, the police nowhere in sight. Suddenly, a human figure appears before your eyes. Panicked, Harry loses control of his vehicle, swerving out of the way. His vehicle goes falling off a cliff, into the darkness. Harry, having regained his consciousness, has found that Cheryl has gone missing...

* Going so far to show the character's changing facial expressions, view meticulously rendered CD movies.

* Fog, darkness and eerie sounds create a realistic sense of unease and fright.

* Shocking fighting scenes spring up one after another, as far as you can see.
