Final Fantasy IV (All Systems) Japanese Packaging / Box Art Translations

Final Fantasy IV (Super Famicom) (7.19.91)

A ground breaking evolution to the series, Final Fantasy IV brought a brilliantly paced story and the active time battle system, which was continued in numerous games afterwards. Curiously, Cecil, Rosa and Edge are accompanied by the more generic black and white mage designs, still encountered in towns.

(Left side)

Ships which sail the skies, the airships. People's long standing dream has become a reality. At the same time, they've come upon a way to fulfill their wickedest desires. Commanding the airship group, [The Red Wings], the Kingdom of Baron is the world's strongest military state. Now, the gears of the country are starting to malfunction. An ominous shadow is cast over the land... The roars of the cannons. Clouds of dust. People frantically trying to escape.

Why is it that Baron is obsessed with the Crystals? What in the world could be happening?

The legendary crystals, simply glowed silently. It's as if they knew everything...

(Right Side)

The curtain now opens...to the grand story.

Impactful graphics and sound.

Mountains which tower up to the heavens. Valleys leading to the abyss. Ships which fly through the air.  Particular to the Super Famicom, the game is overflowing with finely crafted three dimensional graphics and a magnificent soundtrack which make up this Final Fantasy world.

New System: Active Time Battle.

The new battle system is filled with tension.

The ability to assess an ever-changing battle situation is the key to victory. Party members (5 maximum) can be divided with both controllers, allowing for two-player simultaneous play.

A deep story and characters.

A carefully crafted story unfolds. Numerous friends and unique characters. Frightful evil

beings. Towns, castles and a varied landscape. Much joy, and sorrow, awaits in this super authentic role-playing game that's filled with surprises.

Final Fantasy IV Easy Type (10.19.91)

Released several months after the Super Famicom original, the beginner oriented version of FFIV brought all sorts of tweaks and changes to the game's world, inventory and battle systems. I was surprised to read Rosa's 'Pray' command was removed from this "Easy" game, an ability I heavily rely on when playing FFIV.

The Beginner's RPG.

This [Easy Type] is simpler to handle and reconfigured so that anyone may be able to thoroughly enjoy Final Fantasy IV.

Notice: As the game's story is exactly the same as the standard Final Fantasy IV, pleased be advised not to mistakenly (purchase twice).

(A specially produced map and guidebook are attached.)

Back:

Final Fantasy IV...is fun.

'I am a Chocobo. My body is large, so get on for a ride.'

'In this wide, wide world, what could be waiting for you?'

'In the towns and castles, there are all kinds of people.'

'Combine power with your friends and battle  evil creatures!'

Final Fantasy IV (PlayStation) (3.21.97)

The PS1 port of FFIV was based on the original SNES version and included a new CG rendered opening and translation for the western release. However, their were also some odd compromises such as a sub-par Mode 7 effect and lower quality sound effects.

Suddenly, the military kingdom of Baron has begun acting rashly. A burning flame in one's hands. People frantically escaping. What has happened to the King, whom people all over the world gathered their trust? Now, in a legend centering around the crystals, the curtain opens to a grand tale of adventure.

Final Fantasy IV (Wonder Swan Color) (3.29.02)

While matching visuals quite closely with the SNES, the WSC version suffers from a major audio downgrade. The chip-tune style is interesting at points, but certain songs such as 'Theme of Love' and 'Into The Darkness' almost require the sampling instrumentation in which they were originally composed.

Love and betrayal, meetings and partings. Light surpasses darkness...in this fateful encounter.

Final Fantasy IV Advance (12.15.05)

Numerous improvements were introduced to the GBA port of FFIV, including a quick save feature and a new translation for the western release.
