Disney Games (Virgin Interactive) Japanese Packaging / Box Art Translations

Disney's Aladdin (Mega Drive) (11.12.93)

Unique for the 2D sprites being hand drawn by the Disney animators themselves, Virgin and Disney's Aladdin on Sega is arguably better looking than Capcom's edition on the SNES, who were themselves some of the best 2D artists around.

An adventure is born from love. Love flourishes through the adventure.

Long ago, in the Arabian City of Agrabah...

The poor, kind hearted young man known as Aladdin unraveled a huge and fantastic adventure!! Combine your strength along with your the supernatural being of the lamp, Genie, your magical carpet and your pal Abu in a huge outing!!

Jungle Book, The (Super Famicom) (7.15.94)

Developed by Virgin Interactive, the Super Famicom edition of The Jungle Book was the lone system to get a Japanese release. Meanwhile, America and Europe received editions for all the major Nintendo and Sega consoles.

Deep in the jungle lives the boy raised by monkeys, Mowgli. Popular in the jungle, he's up to a whole lot in [The Jungle Book]. Cooperating with his friends, Baloo the Bear and Bagheera the Black Panther, together they take on various hardships. Shere Khan, the Tiger that hates humans and King Louie of the apes are waiting for Mowgli to show up!!

Lion King, The (Genesis, Mega Drive) (12.9.94)

The Lion King was quite a good licensed game despite the occasional, intentionally absurd difficulty spikes. Before I knew anything about Dragon Ball Z and Goku going Super Saiyan, transforming from Cub to Adult Simba provided much the same effect.

Lion King, The (Super Famicom) (12.9.94)

Releasing on the exact same day as the Mega Drive, the SNES version has a slightly reduced image quality, but benefits from the more versatile sound chip. For example, 'I Just Can't Wait To Be King' features vocal samples.

Disney's biggest movie hit, Lion King, has become a video game. With beautiful graphics and smoothly moving characters, you'll enjoy this charming action game. The impactful story that unfolds within the African continent is faithfully recreated. Overflowing with dreams and romance, won't you enter the world of the Lion King?

(Right caption) The grown-up Simba is introduced in the final 4 stages, where he undertakes the decisive battle against the Hyenas.

Disney's Pinocchio (Super Famicom) (12.20.96)

Released after the 32-bit generation was well underway, Pinocchio didn't fare too well in reviews compared to Virgin Interactive's previous Disney games. Besides releasing on the Genesis and Game Boy, a 32X version was fully completed but cancelled.

"Honesty," "Courage," "Selflessness". Let's go discover these three feelings.

I...am Jiminy Cricket. Pinocchio is a wooden puppet created by Old Man Geppetto. However, a fairy has infused him with life, allowing him to talk and move.

Furthermore, discovering the three feelings of "Honesty," "Courage," and "Selflessness" will allow Pinocchio to become a real human boy. If that could happen, Old Man Geppetto should be overjoyed.

Well, go out together with Pinocchio, on an adventure in search of the three feelings!
