Sonic 3D Blast / Sonic 3D Flickies' Island (Saturn) Japanese Packaging / Box Art Translation

Sonic 3D Blast / Sonic 3D Flickies' Island (Saturn) (10.14.99)

Both the Genesis and Saturn versions released in America in 1996 to disappointing, slightly confused reception. I remember loving the little FMV clip at the beginning of the Genesis version, but quickly being at a loss once the game started. This odd isometric platformer didn't make it to Japan until after the Dreamcast and Sonic Adventure released in both regions. 3D Blast is notable for having different soundtracks: Jun Senoue and Tatsuyuki Maeda on the 16-bit version. Richard Jacques on the Saturn.

Spine Card:

This time, the setting is a mysterious, solitary island. Sonic's adventures keep on goin'!

Back:

Run, assist, knock 'em out.

Once again, Sonic is on a rampage!

The mysterious jewel, the Chaos Emerald sleeping within the isolated "Flickies' Island," has fallen into Dr. Eggman's evil hand!

In order to protect the Chaos Emerald, and to also rescue the 'Flickies,' Sonic goes all out, in all directions!

The familiar 'Tails' and 'Knuckles' also appear. They'll give Sonic a hand!
