Donkey Kong Country / Donkey Kong 2001
A game as graphically rich as DKC was practically impossible to port to the original Game Boy hardware. The original attempt, Donkey Kong Land, was heavily based on the SNES game but had to be extensively reworked around the monochrome display. While still a significant downgrade, a more accurate port was attempted on the Game Boy Color, with some extra multiplayer games thrown in for good measure.

The bananas have been stolen by the gang of thieves, the Kremlins. You'll also be on the lookout for Diddy, who's been locked away in a barrel and left in the jungle. Follow the banana trail dropped by the Kremlins, rescue Diddy...and get back all your bananas!
